Is this just another Airbnb or Online Travel Agent (OTA)?
No. We never touch the booking or the money — no commissions, no guest fees. Travellers find you here, then book on your own website at your price. We’re the map, not the middleman.
What does membership cost?
It’s priced per property: $39/property/month, and the per-property rate steps down automatically as you add properties. Annual prepay saves 2 months.
Do you guarantee bookings?
No — and be wary of anyone who does. Membership buys visibility, verification, and direct traffic to your site; the booking happens on your terms, on your website.
Who takes the guest’s payment?
You do, on your own site, with your own payment setup. We never sit between you and your guest.
Do I need my own booking website?
Yes — that’s the point. Your listing goes live once it links to a page where guests can book you directly. Not set up yet? See "I don’t take direct bookings yet" above; our partner discounts make it a small job.
Do I have to leave Airbnb or VRBO?
No. Keep whatever channels you use. StayCanadian is an additional, direct path to guests — not a replacement.
What about problem guests? On major platforms I can call support.
When you book direct, you don’t need permission to protect your place — or screen guests. Ask as many questions as you like before you say yes: who’s coming, what the trip is for, house rules agreed up front. You can ask for a signed rental agreement and a real damage deposit if you want one — your rules, not a platform’s. It’s your booking to accept or decline.
And here’s what most hosts find: they need that protection less. When a booking is anonymous, the stay can feel anonymous too. When guests book direct, they know exactly who they’re booking with. The relationship starts before check-in, expectations are clear on both sides, and people treat a place differently when they feel connected to the person behind it.
Direct booking isn’t just about skipping fees. It also creates more trust, communication, and accountability.
How does billing work?
One membership covers your whole account, priced per property. Monthly or annual. Add a property later and it joins your membership right away — prorated on annual plans, on your next bill on monthly plans.
Can I cancel?
Yes, anytime. Your membership stays active until the end of the period you've paid for — the month or the year — and you won't be billed again. Annual members get a reminder email 30 days before renewal, so there are no surprises.
Are taxes included?
Prices are plus applicable tax.
How does verification work?
Our team checks every listing, licenses, and its direct-booking link before it goes live — typically within 1–2 business days. That’s what makes travellers trust the network.
How is my availability kept up to date?
We’ll show your availability with your (iCal URL) calendar link — every major booking tool has one (iGMS, Lodgify, Hostfully, OwnerRez and others) — and your listing stays current automatically. Because the final booking happens on your own website, basic iCal accuracy is all we need. At worst, a traveller occasionally clicks through and finds dates already taken.
Does my rate improve as I grow?
Yes, and it’s the same schedule for everyone: your first property is $39, and the per-property rate steps down automatically as you add more. No special club, no negotiating. Managing 5+ already? Email hosts@staycanadian.ca and our property team will do the setup with you.
What does my membership pay for?
The collective marketing that brings travellers to the network — destination pages, search visibility, and the verification that makes direct booking trustworthy. A single host site can’t build that alone.

Destination guides and search (we build and rank pages for Canadian destinations), plus the collective marketing your membership funds. Every listing makes the network easier to find.
How can I help StayCanadian grow?
Tell people. Link to your StayCanadian listing from your website and socials, mention us to the guests who found you here, and pass the word to hosts you know. Every host who does this makes the whole network easier to find, and your own listing rises with it. Alone, none of us can outmarket the platforms. Together we can.
