Tonquin Beach House

You step up to the upper level of a cedar home on a quiet, tree-lined street, and the first thing you notice is the light. Floor-to-ceiling windows pull the forest inside, a wood stove waits in the kitchen and a second fireplace anchors the living room. Tonquin Beach and its tide pools are steps away, and downtown Tofino is a five-minute walk in the other direction.

Sleep in Comfort

The primary bedroom is bright and airy with a king bed, private patio access and a stand-up desk if you need to check in with work. It has its own newly renovated ensuite with a walk-in shower and slate tiling. The second bedroom holds a queen bed with warm wood accents and plush bedding. A queen-size pull-out sofa in the living room sleeps two more, so six guests fit comfortably. The guest bathroom has a tub plus in-suite laundry, and both bathrooms are stocked with refillable Carina Organics shampoo, conditioner and soap.

Gather and Unwind

The living room has two seating areas, built-ins, a Smart TV for your own apps and wall-to-wall windows with glimpses of the inlet through the trees. The dining nook sits under a skylight and flows straight into the kitchen, which is fully stocked with cookware, a dishwasher, blender, baking sheets and wine glasses. Your starter supply of Foggy Bean coffee from Ucluelet and organic Thay Tea is waiting on the counter, along with a drip coffee maker and kettle. Pick up a bundle of firewood in town (the host does not supply it) and evenings end by the fire with a board game.

Adventure at Your Doorstep

A short walk brings you to Tonquin Beach and the Tonquin Trail, where low tide reveals tide pools and the rocky shoreline frames dramatic sunsets over Clayoquot Sound. Walk, bike or e-bike the multi-use path into town for cafes, shops and the Tofino harbour, or hop on the West Coast Transit bus toward the beaches and Ucluelet. Beach mats are in the house for lazy afternoons on the sand, and a free summer shuttle runs to the surf beaches so you can leave the car parked.

Thoughtful Touches

Check-in is independent with a detailed Welcome Guide sent before you arrive. Guests have the entire upper level of the house plus the carport, which doubles as covered storage for surfboards and bikes, and a Tesla charger sits on site for electric vehicles. A long-term caretaker lives in a separate suite below and shares the driveway, so please park on the right side in front of the carport. Baby gear, kids' dinnerware and books are all included, and the neighbourhood is quiet from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
