Slide open the doors and Clayoquot Sound fills the room. Boats come and go from the marina, the forested islands shift from morning mist to evening gold, and Tofino's harbour becomes the backdrop to everything you do here. This newly renovated king room is part of Tofino Swell Lodge, a family-run waterfront lodge on Olsen Road that has been welcoming guests since 1984.

Sleep in Comfort A king bed dressed in crisp white linens faces the large sliding doors, so the water is the first thing you see when you wake. The room has its own private bathroom with a shower, a TV and Wi-Fi, and it sleeps two. The finishes are fresh and calm, with warm wood, soft lamplight and nothing competing with the view.

Gather & Unwind Beyond your door, the lodge is built for shared time. The communal living room wraps around a wall of windows looking out to the harbour, with a fireplace, comfortable sofas and a long dining table. The fully stocked kitchen is there for everything from a quiet coffee to a proper dinner. Outside, the hot tub, fire pits and a garden patio with picnic tables look over the marina, which is where most evenings end up.

Adventure at Your Doorstep Downtown Tofino's cafés, galleries and restaurants are a 10 to 15 minute walk away. The lodge offers fishing charters and hot springs tours from its own private dock, so you can be on the water chasing salmon or cruising the coast to the natural hot springs without driving anywhere to meet your boat. Chesterman Beach and Pacific Rim National Park Reserve are an easy drive when you want surf, long sandy beaches and old-growth rainforest trails.

Thoughtful Touches Three generations of the Buhtz family have run this lodge, and it still feels like a home that happens to welcome guests. The lodge is non-smoking and the rooms are not pet friendly. The room is reached by stairs. Check-in is from 4:00 PM and check-out is by 11:00 AM.
