The Porch

Step up onto the teal front porch and you'll understand how this place got its name. The Porch is a character-filled older home in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, spread over three floors, with room for the whole group to gather, play, work and rest without stepping on each other's toes.

Sleep in Comfort Three bedrooms on the second floor each have a queen bed, and the beds get high marks for comfort. There's a crib in the first bedroom, and a Pack 'n Play and air mattresses are available for little ones, so families with young children have options. The Porch sleeps up to 8, with a maximum of 6 adults. Two full bathrooms keep mornings moving, and every bedroom has a Roku TV where you can sign in to your own streaming accounts.

Gather & Unwind The main floor has a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, oven, blender, kettle, coffee maker and everything you need to cook a proper meal, plus a dining table for everyone and a comfortable living room. Climb to the third-floor loft and you'll find the fun: air hockey, chess, cards, board games, arcade games and a 55" TV, with a kids' playroom alongside so the grown-ups can play too. On the second floor, a dedicated yoga and work room gives you a quiet corner for a video call or a morning stretch, with a desk set up for a monitor and keyboard.

Adventure at Your Doorstep You're right downtown, with the St. Marys River boardwalk about a minute's walk south and restaurants an easy stroll away. Follow the waterfront to the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre and the Sault Ste. Marie Canal National Historic Site, where the historic lock still welcomes boats. Hiawatha Highlands offers forest trails within the city, and the Lake Superior shoreline is a scenic drive north, especially when Algoma's fall colours come in.

Thoughtful Touches Self check-in with a smart lock makes arriving easy, and there's free parking on site and on the street. Families will appreciate the baby gear on hand, including a stroller, folding high chair, bed rail, baby chair and children's dishes, plus stair gates and window guards.
