On the hill

SullivanStone sits directly on the Kimberley Alpine Resort ski hill, so mornings start with boots on at the door rather than in a parking lot. You ski down to the base and the quad chair and, at the end of the day, ski back to within a few steps of the deck. Lunch at the condo instead of the day lodge is one of the quiet economies of staying here. Come summer the same slopes turn into hiking and mountain-bike terrain, and Trickle Creek golf course is a few minutes down the hill.

The space

Over 1,500 square feet on three levels, laid out so two families can share it comfortably. The living room has a stone fireplace, a large TV and deep leather seating; the kitchen runs to a full oven and stove, dishwasher, blender, wine glasses, baking supplies and a drip coffee maker, and opens onto a dining table. Air conditioning runs throughout, which is still uncommon in Kootenay mountain rentals.

Sleeping

Ten guests. The upper-level primary has a queen bed, mountain views and a full bathroom. The lower level holds a separate queen bedroom, plus a semi-private room with two bunk beds and a bonus space with a third. A double pull-out couch in the main-floor living room covers the last two. Beds are made up with high-quality linens.

Outside

The deck holds a barbecue, outdoor seating under an umbrella and a private covered hot tub looking out at the mountains. The cover is what makes it a year-round proposition rather than a fair-weather one.

Pets

Well-behaved pets are considered on request. This is a case-by-case arrangement rather than an open pet-friendly policy, so ask before you book.

Practical

Contactless check-in, free parking on the premises, washer and dryer, 250+ Mbps Wi-Fi, cable TV, heating, fire extinguisher, and smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Cleaning is billed separately and the host adds a hot tub fee at booking.
