Ski straight to the door

You are on the hill, not near it. Sullivan Stone sits directly on Kimberley Alpine Resort, so winter mornings start by clicking in at the door and end the same way — no shuttle, no parking lot, no walking through the village in ski boots. In summer that same door opens onto the hiking and mountain-bike trails that run off the Northstar side of the mountain.

Room for two families

Over 2,000 square feet across three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, sleeping 10. Bedroom one has a queen and a twin, bedroom two a queen, and bedroom three a twin bunk plus a single twin; a double sofa bed in the living room takes the overflow. Six beds in all, so nobody draws the short straw.

An open main floor built for evenings

Living room, dining room and kitchen run together on the main floor over hardwood, with leather and fabric sofas gathered around a stone fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped — oven, stove, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, blender, crockpot, wine glasses, proper pots and pans and cooking basics — so feeding ten is a pleasure rather than a scramble. The dining table seats everyone, and there are board games for when the weather turns.

The hot tub and the views

The private outdoor hot tub is the reason people book this one twice. Both decks look out at the Purcells, and so does the master bedroom. There is a barbecue and outdoor seating out there as well, plus outdoor lighting for late soaks.

What else is here

Air conditioning, still uncommon in a Kootenay mountain condo and very welcome in July. Wi-Fi at 250+ Mbps and a desk with a proper chair if you need to work a morning before the lifts. Smart TV and cable, washer and dryer, linens and towels provided, a high chair for the youngest guest, and private parking at the unit.

Kimberley, three minutes away

The Platzl — Kimberley's pedestrian downtown of Bavarian facades, bakeries and patios — is a three-minute drive, and so is Kimberley Golf Club. St. Mary Lake, Kimberley Nature Park and the Bootleg Mountain trail network are all short drives from here.
