Shady Pine

Tucked into the forested hillside of Rocky Valley Resort, Shady Pine is a modern two-level tiny home built for groups who want room to spread out without leaving the woods behind. As the resort's largest unit, it sleeps up to 6 guests, making it a natural fit for families or friends road-tripping out to one of BC's most rugged Gulf Islands.

Upstairs and down, you'll find two bedrooms designed for real rest after a day outdoors: 2 queen beds for the adults and 2 bunk beds tucked in for kids or extra guests. The single bathroom includes a full tub, so you can soak the day's hike or beach walk right out of your legs before bed. A woodstove and air conditioning mean the cabin stays comfortable whether you're visiting in the damp shoulder season or the height of summer.

The heart of Shady Pine is its large covered deck, big enough for the whole group to gather around the BBQ regardless of what the coastal sky is doing. Inside, a fully-equipped kitchen makes it easy to cook real meals after a day of exploring, and an in-unit laundry setup means you can pack light and rewash rather than overpack.

Texada Island is the largest of BC's Gulf Islands, a rugged, laid-back retreat reachable by a roughly 30-minute BC Ferries crossing from Powell River in the qathet region. Once you're on the island, the pace slows down fast — think quiet beaches, old mining trails, and forest roads built for wandering. Rocky Valley Resort adds an extra layer of adventure right on site, with 4x4 guided tours, e-bike and paddleboard rentals, and an outdoor movie theatre for evenings when you'd rather stay close to camp.

When you're ready to properly unwind, the resort's shared Forest Spa is just a short walk from your door: a woodfired 12-person cedar sauna with an outdoor shower and fireplace, an 8-person cedar hot tub tucked into the trees, and cold plunge tubs for the brave. Free WiFi keeps you connected when you need it, firewood is provided for the woodstove, and free parking means you can leave the car and just settle in.
