Rising Tide

You step through a red door into a bright, single-level cottage tucked among towering evergreens, and the first thing you notice is how quiet it is. Rising Tide sits on the ocean side of Ucluelet, and Big Beach is right across the road. The renovated interior is open and airy, with vaulted ceilings, coastal artwork and warm lighting that make it feel like a small, well-loved home rather than a rental.

Sleep in Comfort

The cottage is a studio, and it is at its best with two guests. A queen bed sits in a calm, coastal-inspired sleeping area with room-darkening shades for slow mornings. When you are travelling with a small family or friends, a queen pull-out sofa bed brings the count up to four. The 3-piece bathroom has a bathtub and shower combination, and the shampoo, conditioner and hand soap are from Carina Organics, made in Vancouver.

Gather & Unwind

The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking at home, with a dishwasher, a new stove and refrigerator, oven, toaster, blender, electric kettle and the basics like oils, salt and pepper. Your first mornings are covered with a starter supply of freshly roasted beans from Foggy Bean, the local roaster, plus organic English Breakfast from Ucluelet Thay Tea. A dining table seats four, and there are board games and a TV for evenings in. Outside, the large covered deck is the real living room, with a propane barbecue, an outdoor dining table and Adirondack chairs facing the forest.

Adventure at Your Doorstep

Big Beach is across the road. Terrace Beach is a six-minute walk, Little Beach is eight, and the Amphitrite Point Lighthouse and the Wild Pacific Trail are about fifteen minutes on foot. The Ucluelet Community Hall and the bike and skate park are close by, and the new multi-use path between Ucluelet and Tofino starts nearby if you want to cycle the coast. Downtown Ucluelet, with its cafés, restaurants and shops, is a fifteen-minute walk or a three-minute drive. Tofino and the beaches of the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve are about 35 minutes up the road.

Thoughtful Touches

Check-in is independent, with a keypad deadbolt on your private entrance and a welcome guide sent ahead of your arrival. One off-street parking spot is included, and extra vehicles can use free street parking. Dogs are welcome with a pet fee and dog towels are provided. The cottage is stocked with Nellie's biodegradable dish and dishwasher soap, beach towels and cleaning products for spills. There is no laundry on site, but a laundromat is available in town.

Rising Tide is a small, honest West Coast base for two, and it is ready whenever you are.
