The lights are already on when you pull up, the fireplace is lit, and the deck runs the full width of the house with a hot tub steaming at one end. This is a mountain home built for a group that wants space without giving up comfort.

Cable is there if you want it, and Netflix and Prime Video are included. The kitchen is stocked properly, with a kitchen island and a dining table big enough for everyone at once. Air conditioning runs through the house, which matters more in a Kootenay summer than people expect.

Adventure at Your Doorstep The Kimberley Alpine Resort quad chair is a five-minute walk. In summer that same hill turns into trails, and Trickle Creek golf is minutes away. The Platzl, Kimberley's pedestrian downtown, is a short drive for dinner and a pint.

The Mountain Side Club Dreamcatcher Resort's shared clubhouse sits steps from the door. Inside: a fully stocked gym, his-and-hers saunas and showers, and a lounge with a smart TV. Outside: a heated pool open May through September and a large hot tub running year-round from 7 am to 10 pm.

Thoughtful Touches Contactless entry, so you arrive when you arrive. A front-loading washer and dryer with pods supplied. A desk, a desk chair and a printer if work follows you here. For families, a travel crib, high chair, stair gates, fireplace guards and a shelf of children's books and toys.
