Luxury Log Retreat

You pull into the driveway and the house stops you for a second. Hand-scribed cedar logs, a peaked roof set against the trees, and not much sound beyond the wind moving through the pines. Inside, the vaulted ceiling opens over the living room and floor-to-ceiling windows pull the forest right in.

Sleep in Comfort Four bedrooms sleep ten. The main-floor master is the quiet one, with a king bed and a spa-style ensuite built around a deep soaker tub and walk-in shower. Upstairs there is a second king bedroom and a room with a queen plus a twin bunk set, which is where the kids will want to be. Downstairs, a queen bedroom sits beside the third full bathroom, so late arrivals never wake the house.

Gather and Unwind The kitchen is built for a group that actually cooks: granite counters, a gas range, and a breakfast bar long enough that nobody stands around waiting. It opens into a dining area under the log beams and out onto covered decks at the front and back. When the day winds down the lower level takes over, with a pool table, a large smart TV and a second lounge that hands the main floor back to the adults.

Adventure at Your Doorstep This is golf country. Trickle Creek, Purcell and Bootleg Gap are all inside ten minutes, and Wildstone, Shadow Mountain, St. Eugene and Cranbrook Golf Club sit a short drive down the valley: seven courses within twenty-four minutes. Mountain bike and hiking trailheads begin essentially at the end of the driveway, and the Platzl, Kimberley's pedestrian downtown of craft beer and patios, is five minutes away.

Thoughtful Touches Entry is contactless, so you arrive on your own schedule. The hot tub sits on the lower back deck, screened by trees. Alpine Lodging leaves a bottle of wine and chocolates for your arrival, and will drop off baby gates and a high chair free of charge if you ask. There is a proper desk if someone has to work, and Wi-Fi fast enough that they actually can.

One note: this is a summer home, open mid-June through mid-September only.
