- Sunrise over Meares Island lights up the inlet from the front windows, and orcas, herons, seals and bears are regular sightings from the house and yard.
- Nearly an acre of private waterfront, including your own beach and a beach fire pit with Adirondack chairs, is yours for the stay, with paddleboards to launch from the property.
- A six-person hot tub with ocean views and a cedar barrel sauna turn cool coastal evenings into the best part of the day.
- Two king bedrooms upstairs and a queen on the ground floor, all with organic linens, robes and blackout blinds, sleep six in real comfort.
- An EV charger, solar panels, a walk-in office off the primary suite and a location within walking distance of downtown make longer stays easy and low-impact.
About this stay
You wake before anyone else and pull back the blackout blinds. The sun is just clearing Meares Island, spilling gold across the inlet, and a heron is standing in the shallows of your own beach. First Light is a 1970s post-and-beam inlet home on nearly an acre just outside downtown Tofino, near the Crab Dock, and its whole design points at the water.
Sleep in Comfort
Three bedrooms sleep six. The ground-floor bedroom has a queen bed, forest views, two windows with blackout curtains and a closet. Upstairs, the loft bedroom has a king bed, a closet and a chair behind a privacy screen. The primary bedroom, also upstairs, is extremely spacious, with a king bed, window seating for morning coffee and marine-life watching, blackout blinds facing the ocean, and an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in closet and office. Each bedroom has two robes and natural plants, and the linens are organic with linen-blend duvet covers. The downstairs bathroom has a tub and shower combo and the upstairs has a shower; both are stocked with refillable organic shampoo, conditioner and hand soap made locally.
Gather and Unwind
Large windows frame sweeping inlet views, and a propane fireplace anchors the open-concept living and dining area. The 55-inch Smart TV carries Netflix, Prime and Crave, with board games, cards, books and a piano for slower evenings, and binoculars on the bar cart for spotting wildlife. The kitchen is big enough for several cooks and stocked with spices, oil and vinegar, an immersion blender, hand mixer, chef's knives, SodaStream, Ninja blender and popcorn maker, with an ocean view from the sink. Coffee starts with locally roasted Foggy Bean beans and your choice of drip, Breville espresso or Le Creuset French press, plus organic teas from Ucluelet. The dining table seats six.
Adventure at Your Doorstep
Step down the yard to the private beach, where four Adirondack chairs circle the fire pit and paddleboards wait for calm mornings on the inlet. Downtown Tofino is walkable, and the Multi-Use Path, the free summer shuttle and bike and e-bike rentals make it easy to explore without a car. Whale watching, boat tours into Clayoquot Sound and the surf beaches are all close, and the yard itself is a wildlife-viewing post.
Thoughtful Touches
Soak in the six-person hot tub, then steam in the cedar barrel sauna on the large cedar deck. The house is solar-powered, has an EV charger and parking for two, and offers step-free access to the home, ground-floor bedroom and common spaces. A dedicated desk and chair sit in the walk-in office off the primary bedroom, with yoga mats, bands and small weights in a basket beside it. Families find a baby gate, playpen, high chair, step stool and children's dinnerware. One dog is welcome, with dog towels, a bed and bowls provided. This is a vintage home being renovated gradually, with new ocean-facing windows arriving in 2026, and it is priced to reflect that.
Arrive for the first light, and stay for everything the inlet shows you after.
